Membership in the Santa Rosa Photographic Society is open to photography enthusiasts in the Sonoma County area, of all skill levels and interests. Our members include individuals who are relatively new to photography, serious amateurs, and some professional photographers.
Membership Meetings
Our meetings are designed to further members’ interest and ability in photography. Meetings are generally held on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, from January through October.
On the second Thursday of the month, we hold a competition of digital images submitted by members in six categories – nature, journalism, travel, creative, monochrome, and pictorial. Competition entries are evaluated and critiqued by outside judges, and points are awarded to winning images. These points are used for members to advance levels within our organization. Regular members can participate in these competitions, and Associate members can submit images to the judges for critique without being awarded points for their entries. Winning entries are automatically submitted to our umbrella organization, the Northern California Council of Camera Clubs (N4C) for competitions held among members of all their affiliated clubs.
On the fourth Thursday of each month, we hold a program night, where outside photographers or sometimes members can showcase their work or provide instruction or a demonstration to our membership. Programs are arranged on a wide variety of topics of interest, such as particular types of photographic subjects, composition, or improving technical skills.
All our meetings are held online via Zoom. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and meetings start at 6:30 p.m. with brief club-related announcements prior to the competition or program. The year closes with an Awards Banquet and a program highlighting competition winners.
Other meetings are sometimes held throughout the year, including club board meetings. The club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

There are two levels of membership: Associate and Regular. Regular members may participate in the club’s monthly competitions and advance through the club’s competition levels. Associate members may not enter club competitions for purposes of advancement, but may submit images to get a judge's critique at competition meetings. Otherwise, Associate members can participate in all other club activities.
Regular membership is $75 per year and Associate membership is $65 per year. We also welcome Sponsoring members with a contribution of $100 or more each year.
Membership dues are renewed each year before January 1st. Members who join in November or December do not need to renew their membership until the subsequent January 1st.
