With A Sharp Focus on 2008...
~ Marcia Hart ~

Welcome to the website of the Santa Rosa Photographic Society! As we begin our 33rd year serving the interests of amateur photography enthusiasts from throughout the Sonoma County area and beyond, we are looking forward to another year of shared excellence in photography.

We will, once again, provide eleven judged competition meetings in the categories of nature, creative and general photography. We are fortunate to enjoy the experienced and knowledgeable "eyes" of local judges whose critiques continue to educate us. We are grateful for their generous service.

Club members - we currently number over 100 - are also looking forward to a schedule of interesting and inspiring program meetings designed to inform us and provide opportunities for growth. They include the annual Al Shelton Competition with specific categories limited to entries of photographs shot during the 2007 calendar year.

Other programs include the Master's Presentation of 2008 Masters candidate Jerry Meshulam, salons, with panels critiquing images followed by open discussion among members, an equipment night, a program devoted to nature photography and digital processing, and an evening of "Seeing in Shades of Gray" to name a few.

We meet at the Luther Burbank Art and Garden Center in Santa Rosa at
7 p.m. on the second (competition meeting) and fourth (program meeting) Thursdays of January through November (with a slightly altered schedule in November).

Our year culminates with our annual banquet in December celebrating the best images of the year, the presentation of awards, the announcement of those who have advanced to higher levels of competition and the continued fellowship of friends sharing a common interest with uncommon expertise and passion. Guests are always welcome to attend our regular meetings.

We look forward to meeting you.
Marcia Hart - SRPS President - 2008
